Ms. Lantry so accurately describes the shock of finding out one has a cancer diagnosis and how hard it is emotionally to say these words out loud. This article is so well written , I felt like I was there in the pool with her swimming mermaids as well. How comforting it must have been to have their suport echoed in the affirming response “Survivor” Such great news to hear that she too has become a survivor herself . I’d love to hear more about this gifted writers journey.
I am a breast cancer survivor of 33 (!!) years. Reading Jackie’s story made me laugh and cry at the same time. We need more stories like Jackie’s letting us know we are not alone in our struggles.

Jackie has been a friend of mine forever and I never truly knew the resilience and grit she possessed. As a retired nurse and having cared for breast cancer patients throughout my 50+ years of nursing , never before have I seen such strength of character, unwavering dedication & determination to heal from the worst possible breast cancer diagnosis.
